Sunday Dec 11, 2011
Sunday Dec 11, 2011
Have you ever had someone tell you something that completely changed your world? It may have been good news or it may have been bad news but the moment you heard it, you knew that your life would never be the same? Today we're continuing in our Christmas series entitled, "Birth Announcements," studying place in God's word where we find the announcement of the birth of Christ and showing us what that means for us. Today we're in Luke chapter 1 where the angel Gabriel appears to a young Jewish girl and tells her something that completely and forever changed, not only Mary's world, but ours as well. It’s where we find "the announcement of grace." Have you ever had someone tell you something that completely changed your world? It may have been good news or it may have been bad news but the moment you heard it, you knew that your life would never be the same?

Birth Announcements, Week 2: The Announcement of Peace
Sunday Dec 04, 2011
Sunday Dec 04, 2011
Peace, it sounds nice doesn't it? We live in a world that is anything but peaceful. Even our personal lives so filled with strife and stress that peace seems more like a pipe dream than reality. So, is peace in our lives even possible? This week, Pastor Clay takes us to Isaiah chapter 9 to show us God's birth announcement of peace and what it means for our lives today. It's hard to put a price tag on the value of having peace in our lives, but as we'll discover today, God's idea of peace is much more than absence of conflict in our lives.

Birth Announcements, Week 1: The Announcement of Hope
Sunday Nov 27, 2011
Sunday Nov 27, 2011
Well, we've hardly had time for our Thanksgiving dinner to settle and already the Christmas season is upon us. Today on Crosswalk we're beginning a brand new series especially for this season of the year. 'Birth Announcements' is the title of this series and as you may have already guessed we're going to be looking to God's word to see the announcements of God's Son coming to earth. We're kicking this series off today in a passage of scripture that you might not normally think of when talking about the birth of Christ, but it is in fact the first place we find the promise of the One who would come to save the world. If you can open up a copy of God's word turn with us to Genesis chapter 3 verse 15 as Pastor Clay explains to us "The Announcement of Hope."

Thanksgiving - It’s not just for pilgrims, Week 4: 1 Corinthians 15
Sunday Nov 20, 2011
Sunday Nov 20, 2011
Have you ever had someone do something for you that didn't turn out very well? All of us have probably been in situations where we've said, or at least been tempted to say, "Thanks for nothing." Of course none of us would ever say something like that to God. But is it possible that being thankful for "nothing" is a good thing? This week, Pastor Clay is going to show us how being thankful to God for "nothing" can be a good thing. That may sound confusing, but 1 Corinthians chapter 15 is the text for this week and where we find some of the "nothings" that we can be thankful for.

Thanksgiving - It's not just for pilgrims, Week 3: Psalm 100
Sunday Nov 13, 2011
Sunday Nov 13, 2011
How we worship and offer thanksgiving to God matters. Today we continue our series entitled, "Thanksgiving, It's Not Just For Pilgrims," and we're turning our attention to Psalm 100. If you were with us a couple of weeks ago when Pastor Clay took us through Psalm 95, then much of what you hear today will sound familiar. The themes of thanksgiving and worship are obvious in both of those psalms, but today Pastor Clay is going to point out the various aspects of our thanksgiving that we find in Psalm 100.

Thanksgiving - It's not just for pilgrims, Week 2: Philippians 4
Monday Nov 07, 2011
Monday Nov 07, 2011
As we draw nearer to Thanksgiving, we continue our series "Thanksgiving – It’s Not Just for Pilgrims," reminding us of the importance of thanksgiving in our daily lives. Today Pastor Clay is taking us to Philippians chapter 4, verses 6 and 7, not a passage you think of normally when discussing the subject of thanksgiving, but as we'll hear in today's message, thanksgiving is the key to living a life without anxiety and worry. That's a life that not only good for us, it's good for others to see how following Jesus is making a difference in our lives.

Thanksgiving - It's not just for pilgrims, Week 1: Psalm 95
Monday Oct 31, 2011
Monday Oct 31, 2011
Today we start a brand new series entitled, "Thanksgiving, it's not just for Pilgrims." As a nation, we certainly have much to be thankful for but for those of us who are followers of Jesus, our thanksgiving goes far beyond the material blessings we may have. As Pastor Clay is going to show us today, thanksgiving is a central part of our faith and it's when we begin to take the gifts of God for granted that we begin to find ourselves in trouble. Being reminded of who God is, what He has done and who we are to Him should fill our hearts with thankfulness to God for His love and grace poured out on our lives

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 17: Christ Proclaimed (Part 2)
Tuesday Oct 25, 2011
Tuesday Oct 25, 2011
Pastor Clay continues his teaching from Colossians 4:2-18 today as we wrap up the "Colossians - It's All About Him" series. Proclaiming Christ is the mission of the Church and in the last chapter of the book of Colossians, we find the Apostle Paul reminding us of the importance of that task and giving us three essentials for the mission of proclaiming Christ. Last week, we looked at the first essential, prayer, and as Pastor Clay shared with us, without prayer we'll never see the power of God at work. This week, as we come to the conclusion of our series in the book of Colossians, we'll see the other two essentials for proclaiming Christ. We're living in uncertain times to be sure and the message of Jesus is the only hope the world has. We simply can't afford to waste any time.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 16: Christ Proclaimed (Part 1)
Sunday Oct 16, 2011
Sunday Oct 16, 2011
Just before Jesus went back to heaven He gave us what has come to be known as, 'The Great Commission.' For two-thousand years the Church has been working to fulfill that commission with all kinds of programs and presentations, but is it possible that the Church has, at times, failed to plug into the power to fulfill that great commission? We're just beginning our study of the last chapter of Colossians and a section that Pastor Clay has entitled, 'Christ Proclaimed.' This week and next Pastor Clay is going to give us three essentials that are needed if the message of Jesus is going to go out and change the world. This week, we're going to look at prayer, one of the power tools that gives the Church the power it needs to proclaim Christ to the world.

Sunday Oct 09, 2011
Have you ever had a job you just couldn't stand? Have you ever had a boss that mistreated you? As followers of Jesus when we find ourselves in a difficult work situation how should we respond? Well today, we continue in our series entitled 'Colossians – It's all about Him' and we find the writer of the book, the Apostle Paul, giving instructions to slaves and masters in their conduct toward one another. It's a timely message for those of us who work and the people we're employed by. You may love your job or you may not, but as we'll learn today God's expectations for us in the work place are clear.

Parenting, is there any harder job on earth? "Fathers, do not exasperate your children, that they may not lose heart." Those words from Colossians chapter 3 and verse 21 is God's command to fathers and parents, but exactly what does it mean to exasperate our children? Should parents just give into their children and give them everything they want? These are just a couple of the questions Pastor Clay is going to address today in his message from this series in the book of Colossians as well as offer parents some very practical suggestions to help them raise their children in a way that honors God and blesses their children.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 13: Christ Practiced (Part 9)
Sunday Sep 25, 2011
Sunday Sep 25, 2011
We've been working our way through the book of Colossians this summer and we've come to Colossians chapter 3 verses 20 and 21 and the responsibilities of children and parents in the family. A child's obedience is not always easy in a culture that promotes individual liberty above pretty much everything else. Certainly each individual adult or child is precious in God's sight and of equal worth. So why should a child be obedient to his or her parents? Today, Pastor Clay explains that there are some very good reasons for children to submit to their parents.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 12: Christ Practiced (Part 8)
Sunday Sep 18, 2011
Sunday Sep 18, 2011
In our series in the book of Colossians, Pastor Clay has been walking us through this important and relevant book. Last week we came to Colossians chapter 3 and verse 18 where the Apostle Paul stated that wives should "be subject" or "submit to their husbands," and we looked at what all that meant, and what it didn't mean. Today Pastor Clay is going to go back to verse 18 briefly to share a couple more truths about a wife's submission to her husband, and then we're going to take a look at verse 19 and a husbands responsibility to "love their wives and not be embittered against them." As with the wife's role Pastor Clay's going to show us what that means and what it doesn't mean. Marriages today are certainly under attack and if a marriage is going to not only survive, but also thrive, both husbands and wives need to know God's expectations for them.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 11: Christ Practiced (Part 7)
Sunday Sep 11, 2011
Sunday Sep 11, 2011
Most Christians would agree that marriages and the family are under attack and as we continue our series in the book of Colossians we now come to a very important section as it pertains to the family. In Colossians chapter 3 verses 18 through 25 the Apostle Paul addresses specific responsibilities of individuals within the marriage and family beginning with the call for wives to submit to their husbands. If Paul were alive today I doubt if he'd ever get invited to be the keynote speaker at a meeting of the National Organization of Women, but it's important for us to remember that Paul is writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and what he writes is exactly what God wants us to know. We invite you to listen as Pastor Clay walks us through these timely verses and explains to us what a wife's submission means and doesn't mean.

Monday Sep 05, 2011
Monday Sep 05, 2011
Our two part message from Colossians chapter 3 verses 15 through 17 stretched out to three parts; that's just how important your answers to these questions are. Over the last few weeks, Pastor Clay has asked us to examine our lives and answer four questions based on verses 15 through 17 of the third chapter of Colossians. Do you want to live with the peace of Christ in your heart? Do you want the word of Christ richly dwelling in you? Do you desire the joy of Christ filling your heart? And do you want the life of Christ coming from your heart? Join us today as Pastor Clay outlines the A-5 Challenge to strengthen your walk with Christ and help you on your way to answering “yes” to these four questions.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 9: Christ Practiced (Part 5)
Sunday Aug 28, 2011
Sunday Aug 28, 2011
This is part two of a message from Colossians chapter 3 verses 15 through 17 and four questions that can have a profound impact on our lives. Last week Pastor Clay asked us "Does the peace of Christ rule in your heart?" and "Does the word of Christ dwell in your heart?" As Pastor Clay explained, it's more than just the intake of the knowledge of God's word. It's the outflow from our lives. That's something we're going to hear more of today as we’re asked two more questions. Like the first two, these questions are very important for determining where we are in our walk with Christ.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 8: Christ Practiced (Part 4)
Sunday Aug 21, 2011
Sunday Aug 21, 2011
As we continue in our series entitled 'Colossians – It's All About Him,' the Apostle Paul has moved from the more theological section in the first half of his letter to the more practical section. Followers of Jesus aren't called to just know the right things, they're called to live the right things and to live the way Christ would want us to. In this message, and in next week's message, Pastor Clay is going to be asking us four very important questions based on verses 15 through 17 of Colossians chapter 3. How we answer those questions will go along way toward helping us understand where we are in our walk with Jesus.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 7: Christ Practiced (Part 3)
Sunday Aug 14, 2011
Sunday Aug 14, 2011
Both the Lord's Supper and baptism are pictures of what Christ has done for us and today, as you're going to hear Pastor Clay say, one is a "commemoration" and one is a "celebration" but both are a "proclamation" of the message of Jesus. In the context of those two ordinances, Pastor Clay is going to continue our study in the book of Colossians and take us to chapter 3 verses 10 through 17 where we're going to discover practical application for our lives.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 6: Christ Practiced (Part 2)
Monday Aug 01, 2011
Monday Aug 01, 2011
As we continue our series entitled, "Colossians – It's All About Him," we've moved into the second half of Paul's letter to the church at Colossae where we find much more of a practical tone to his letter. Today Pastor Clay is going to show us how the Apostle Paul uses a clothing analogy to teach us the importance of a changed life. Just like fashions that go out of style, those who come to Jesus must take off their old way of living and put on the new.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 5: Christ Practiced (Part 1)
Sunday Jul 24, 2011
Sunday Jul 24, 2011
We've reached the halfway point of the book of Colossians in our series entitled, 'It's All About Him.' The Apostle Paul has spent the first two chapters confronting the false teachers that were corrupting the theology of the church at Colossae and now turns his attention to the faulty practices of the church. It's a timley message as Pastor Clay is going to show us today, having a correct theology doesn't mean much if it doesn't result in a correct life.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 4: Christ Protected
Sunday Jul 17, 2011
Sunday Jul 17, 2011
Locks, alarms, fences, and security systems, they’re part of the world we live in today. Protecting our valuables from those who would steal them is important to most of us, but what if one of the most precious things we own, our theology, could be stolen. As we continue our study through the book of Colossians we come today to the second chapter where, as Pastor Clay is going to show us that what we believe about God can actually be taken from us, if we're not careful.

Colossians, It’s All about Him, Week 3: Christ Preeminent (Part 2)
Sunday Jul 10, 2011
Sunday Jul 10, 2011
Preeminent, the word means, "Superior to or notable above all others." Followers of Jesus would certainly agree with that definition as applied theologically to Jesus, but do we agree with it practically? There are lots of ideas, religions, and philosophies floating around today that challenge our understanding of who Jesus is. Last week Pastor Clay explained to us how Paul was building a case for Jesus Christ preeminent. He is God and the only one worthy to be worshipped. But while we may agree with that statement theologically, do we agree with it practically? In other words, is Jesus Christ preeminent in our everyday lives? That's the question were exploring this week on CrossWalk.

Colossians, It's All about Him, Week 2: Christ Preeminent (Part 1)
Sunday Jul 03, 2011
Sunday Jul 03, 2011
We're in week two of our series in the book of Colossians entitled, "It's all about Him." The Colossian church had begun to be invaded by false teaching that threatened to undermine the doctrinal foundation of the church. Particularly under attack was the person of Jesus Christ, both His sufficiency and authority. The Apostle Paul responded by sending a letter emphasizing doctrinal truths that were needed in Colossae in the first century, and are just as needed in the church today. This week, Pastor Clay is presenting the second aspect of our study, "Christ Preeminent."

Colossians, It's All about Him, Week 1: Christ Presented
Sunday Jun 26, 2011
Sunday Jun 26, 2011
Today we begin a brand new series here at Crosswalk entitled, "Colossians – It's All About Him." The church at Colossae was beginning to experience false doctrine creeping into its midst. Just as in the days of the Apostle Paul, we still see false ideas about Christ in our culture today, and sadly, in too many churches. To combat this, the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the church at the Colossae to instruct them in what is the truth when it comes to Jesus and how that should impact our lives. Paul exposes the false teachings and helps us understand the importance of correct doctrine.

Jonah - Man on the Run, Week 5: Chapter 4
Saturday Jun 18, 2011
Saturday Jun 18, 2011
If we could have ended the book of Jonah last week it would have a been good Hollywood happy ending; God gets to demonstrate His grace and mercy, the people of Nineveh get to experience God’s grace and mercy, and Jonah changes his heart and ends up as the hero. But that's not how it ends.
