Crossroads (Week 22) - 1 Corinthians 9:1-27

Have you ever had to defend yourself against some untruth? Have you ever had to defend your right to something? In chapter 9 of 1 Corinthians, we find a deeply personal part of the Apostle Paul’s letter as he defends the rights he has as a minister in the church. It seems like there was always someone trying to hinder the Apostle Paul’s work. It’s no wonder since the enemy is never happy when the Kingdom of God is expanding, which was certainly the case with the Apostle Paul and his ministry to the first century church.

As we will learn this week, Paul not only defended his rights, but he then chose to set them aside for the sake of the Gospel. What are we willing to give up for the Gospel? And, what are we willing to do for the Gospel? Paul’s example is a great teaching moment for all of us who follow Christ.
